Haii!
Recently, I was the summarizer for my literature circles group. I had a very fun job indeed, for summarizing the first four chapters of The Cat Ate My Gymsuit.
So in the beginning, Marcy Lewis, (the protagonist) descriptively explains how she hates her life in 9th grade, how she is obese and her issues with shyness. She makes up excuses for not having to compete in her "horrible" high school, especially physical education. Her last excuse was that the cat apparently ate her gymsuit. She finds her own life plainly disastrous, until a new English teacher Ms. Finney came along. Ms. Finney is a very kind and giving teacher, although most the kids don't want to give her a chance, relating to all the previous, terrible teachers. She knows that Ms. Finney is great, and she is getting comforted slowly but surely. She is starting to like school now that Ms. Finney is there. Joel, a nice guy also wants to be friends with her. But he has issues too with his peer pressure. All in all, Marcy's life is slowly increasing with fun, and it is turning more and more positive for all characters really. But Joel is just possibly being friends with Marcy all of a sudden because of peer pressure, or the opposite (nothing might happen, really).
